Chat Box: The J&J vaccine break | Video
On April 13, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Food and Drug Administration recommended a pause in the use of Johnson & Johnson’s COVID-19 vaccine after a small number of reports of a rare and severe type of blood clot in some vaccine recipients. On Chat Box this week, David Cruz speaks with Dr. Chris Pernell, Head of Strategic Integration and Health Equity at Newark University Hospital, about the vaccine hiatus and its effect on distribution and confidence in vaccines, as well as equity and access to vaccines.
Also on Chat Box, Sara Cullinane, director of Make the Road NJ, discusses recent undocumented immigrant hunger strikes to urge Gov. Phil Murphy to provide assistance to vital New Jersey immigrant workers and their families affected by the pandemic.
And with Senator Loretta Weinberg, Jeff Tittel of the New Jersey Sierra Club and Hetty Rosenstein of the Communications Workers of America all announcing their intention to retire this year, there is a changing of the guard in Trenton. The three discuss the impact they have had on the Garden State and the issues they hope lawmakers will continue to tackle.
