“The funding will allow the development and implementation of a new chat service accessible 24 hours a day, seven days a week,” said a press release from Jolin-Barrette. “The objective will be to provide support, information and referrals to victims and their loved ones through a new technological solution. It will be a quick and confidential way for victims to talk to stakeholders to get the assistance they need.

The online chat service, which is to be implemented in the fall of 2023, will complement the national resource line already administered by the Montreal Sexual Assault Victims Assistance Center. It is accessible at all times, anywhere in Quebec, by dialing 1-888-933-9007.
